This month our Employee Spotlight is Shelly Holst. Shelly works with the HR team as a Human Resources Generalist and she has been with Total Solutions since March of 2020. Keep reading to learn more about Shelly!
Favorite part of working at Total Solutions?
The people, for sure! I’ve made some good friends, and they make coming to work seem less like work.
What has been your proudest moment working at Total Solutions?
I would say in general that I’ve learned a lot more about HR than I knew coming in. I’ve been tasked with some projects and responsibilities that I had never done before or had done very little of, and I’m grateful to get to learn new things.
What would you be doing for a career if you weren’t an HR Generalist?
I’m not sure, most likely something more creative and artsy.
What is the best career lesson you have learned?
Make sure to have an appropriate work/life balance. You can’t get time back.
What is something you learned in the last week?
My husband’s job does not allow him to have an appropriate work/life balance lol.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Cooking/trying new recipes, gardening, refurbishing/refinishing furniture
What is one thing you can’t live without?
Coffee!
Where is your favorite place to be?
With my husband and family
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
It sounds silly, but “Make good choices,” I said it to my boys every time they left the house, and it’s stuck with them into adulthood
If you could have dinner with any 3 people who would you choose?
My Grandma Fritz, because I loved her so much and miss our long talks, my Grandpa Fritz, because I never got to meet him.
What’s the worst style choice you’ve ever made?
I went to high school and college in the ’80s, need I say more?
You have to sing karaoke, which song are you picking?
You can go sing and dance, I’ll stay at the table and watch the drinks and purses
