My name is Emily, and I’m a marketing specialist who manages this blog. This month, I’m excited to answer the Employee Spotlight questions and share my story with you. At Total Solutions, we value our employees and their unique perspectives, experiences, and talents. That’s why we created this series to highlight the amazing individuals who make our company what it is.
What do you do at Total Solutions and how long have you been with the company?
I started as a Marketing Intern in May of 2021 before finishing up my senior at Drake University and joining Total Solutions full-time as Marketing Specialist last May.
What is your favorite part of working at Total Solutions?
My favorite part is that every day is different. I get to learn new things all the time and work with a variety of small businesses in the Quad Cities.
What has been your most rewarding accomplishment working at Total Solutions?
It has been very rewarding to see how much I’ve grown since I started. I have learned so many new skills in the last two years.

What would you be doing for a career if you weren’t doing your job?
I considered going into politics when I first started college but I also love music so maybe something involving that.
What is the best career lesson you have learned?
From the best (and only) Director of Marketing, I’ve worked with – If you think of every challenge as an opportunity then your career is a lot more rewarding
What is something you learned in the past week?
I just learned that sometimes you have to disable all plugins on WordPress and install them again to add a new page to a website.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I like to play piano and watch way too much reality TV.
What is one thing you can’t live without?
My cat, Sunkist.
Where is your favorite place to be?
Asleep in my bed.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Keep your eye on the ball. Shoutout to my Dad.
What’s the worst style choice you’ve ever made?
My dad can give good advice, but he could not dress an 8-year-old. So the worst style choice was letting my dad pick my outfits all of elementary school.
You have to sing karaoke which song are you picking?
Any Taylor Swift song. I know every word to every song.
